Real West Cabin Vacation 4 Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at the ranch in Brule around 9 AM. After introductions and the necessary paper work we load all the gear and food on pack horses and head north to West Range Cabins. The trail leads us through the forest to Prine Creek where we stop for lunch. After lunch we will continue to the Solomon Creek crossing, then climb to the ridge line where views of the Solomon Valley and the first range of the Rockies are spectacular. We continue north on a high bench paralleling Solomon Creek to the cabins, arriving at approx. 4:30 PM. After moving into your cabin we have dinner at 6 PM, then enjoy a campfire in the evening before bed.

Day 2: We ride up Solomon Creek with many creek crossings to Peterson Creek. Then travel up Peterson creek with many switchbacks through the steep areas to the top of Peterson Point (elevation 6500 ft). You are above timberline with incredible views in all directions, while we enjoy lunch. We must lead our horses down the steep switchbacks on our return. Approx. 6 hours

Day 3: After breakfast we start our ride to the top of Paradise Ridge. In 2 hours we gain 1200 vertical feet, reaching the ridgeline and the fantastic views. We ride the ridge line for 5 km, the views changing as we make our way along the ridge. Lunch on top gives you a panoramic view. It’s very steep on the way down so we must dismount and lead our horses down a short way. Return to cabins at approx. 4 PM.

Day 4: After we enjoy breakfast, we load the pack-horses and return to civilization. After a lunch break we arrive back at the ranch about 3 PM. We say goodbyes to new friends made on the trip and to your trusty horses, and we hope to see you again on a new Horseback Adventure.
