Horseback Adventures offers you authentic western vacations at our West Range Cabins. Located in the Rock Lake Solomon Creek Wildland Provincial Park along Jasper National Park’s north boundary.

All West Range horseback riding vacations depart from our ranch in Brule, Alberta. You will be horseback riding up the trail, crossing Solomon Creek and climbing high to come out on a ridge overlooking Solomon Creek with a beautiful view of Solomon Valley – the first range of mountains in the Canadian Rockies. Ride through aspen forests and along the mountain trail, descending down to the valley floor arriving at West Range Cabins. During your West Range horseback riding adventure, we take you up to the top of Paradise Ridge, a fantastic high mountain ride, to see vistas you only dream about. We will ride into the headwaters of Solomon Creek on an ancient trail with several creek crossings, and through pine and spruce forests. Some walking downhill is required on the steeper sections of the trail. Day ride itinerary is subject to change due to weather or trail conditions.

This West Range Cabin Vacation is for the soft to moderate adventurer and riders of all levels. Horseback Adventures provides the horses for both packing and riding. Enjoy private, heated, single bed, bunkhouse style cabins on our Real West trail ride vacations. Bedding is provided on these trips. The central dining lodge has plenty of room to relax, read, and play cards or visit. After a day on the trail you can also enjoy a hot shower in the shower house. We provide home-cooked meals for breakfast and supper, as well as bag lunches to take on the trail rides. Tom personally guides every trip and along with our staff of guides, wranglers and a cook, we strive to make your horseback adventure a pleasant, fun and enjoyable vacation experience.

Real West Cabin Vacation 6 Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at the ranch in Brule around 9 AM. After introductions and the necessary paper work we load all the gear and food on pack horses and head north to West Range Cabins. The trail leads us through the forest to Prine Creek where we stop for lunch. After lunch we will continue to the Solomon Creek crossing, then climb to the ridge line where views of the Solomon Valley and the first range of the Rockies are spectacular. We continue north on a high bench paralleling Solomon Creek to the cabins, arriving at approx. 4:30 PM. After moving into your cabin we have dinner at 6 PM, then enjoy a campfire in the evening before bed.

Day 2: We ride up Solomon Creek with many creek crossings to Peterson Creek. Then travel up Peterson creek with many switchbacks through the steep areas to the top of Peterson Point (elevation 6500 ft). You are above timberline with incredible views in all directions, while we enjoy lunch. We must lead our horses down the steep switchbacks on our return. Approx. 6 hours

Day 3: After breakfast we start our ride to the top of Paradise Ridge. In 2 hours we gain 1200 vertical feet, reaching the ridgeline and the fantastic views. We ride the ridge line for 5 km, the views changing as we make our way along the ridge. Lunch on top gives you a panoramic view. It’s very steep on the way down so we must dismount and lead our horses down a short way. Return to cabins at approx. 4 PM.

Day 4 & 5 : Day ride from cabins

Day 6: After we enjoy breakfast, we load the pack-horses and return to civilization. After a lunch break we arrive back at the ranch about 3 PM. We say goodbyes to new friends made on the trip and to your trusty horses, and we hope to see you again on a new Horseback Adventure.
